MONCTON, NB (January 19, 2016) – Although the riding season is still a few months away, there will be no better time to pick out your dream ride for the 2016 season than February 12 to 14 when the Motorcycle & ATV Show Moncton roars into the Moncton Coliseum.
Presented by Dalton Timmis Insurance and produced by Power Sport Services, the event is Atlantic Canada’s largest showcase for new makes and models from the major manufacturers of open road, track and trail vehicles. It’s an ideal opportunity to take a look at the new 2016 motorcycle, scooter, ATV and side-by-side models; hop on and compare models and talk to industry experts. The Moncton event is the only Atlantic stop on Power Sport Services’ Canada-wide, seven-city motorcycle show tour.
Among the highlights of this year’s show is a ladies-only draw for a 2016 Kawasaki Ninja EX300 motorcycle at She Rides Nite on Friday, February 12. The motorcycle is donated by Canadian Kawasaki and its dealership GBourque of Dieppe. This is a first for the Moncton show, so ladies don’t forget to fill in your ballot while you are at the show. In addition to a chance to win a 2016 Kawasaki, women will receive half-price admission after 5:00 p.m. that night.
According to industry statistics, women account for 14 percent of all motorcycle owners and there’s been a 30 percent increase in the number of female bikers over the past decade.
“She Rides Nite is all about encouraging women who ride, or are considering the sport, to gather up their girlfriends and have a fun night out,” said the show’s manager, Neil Fardy. ”In addition to the many female-friendly motorcycle models available, there’s riding gear and clothing specially developed for women. We’ll have industry experts on hand to provide information and advice specific to the needs of the female rider.”
Also back by popular demand is the Yamaha Riding Academy, which introduces kids to the sport in a safe, supervised environment. Children 6 to 12 years old receive instruction from the experts, get geared up in the latest safety equipment and then take to the track to test their skills. It’s an excellent way to expose “wannabe” riders to the basics and safety of off road riding.
Another crowd pleaser at Moncton is Trials at the Show, starring the Bélanger family from Quebec. Trials is a non-speed event, done on specialized bikes, where riders demonstration their skills and agility by navigating an obstacle course without ever touching their feet to the ground.
Clinton Smout will also return to this year’s show to give “how to” sessions on riding over obstacles and gravel roads, picking up a fallen motorcycle and other slow speed riding techniques.
