Atlantic Canada’s largest motorcycle show at Moncton Coliseum, Feb. 12-14 Female motorcycle enthusiasts have chance to win a 2016 Kawasaki

MONCTON, NB (January 19, 2016) – Although the riding season is still a few months away, there will be no better time to pick out your dream ride for the 2016 season than February 12 to 14 when the Motorcycle & ATV Show Moncton roars into the Moncton Coliseum.

Presented by Dalton Timmis Insurance and produced by Power Sport Services, the event is Atlantic Canada’s largest showcase for new makes and models from the major manufacturers of open road, track and trail vehicles. It’s an ideal opportunity to take a look at the new 2016 motorcycle, scooter, ATV and side-by-side models; hop on and compare models and talk to industry experts.  The Moncton event is the only Atlantic stop on Power Sport Services’ Canada-wide, seven-city motorcycle show tour.

Among the highlights of this year’s show is a ladies-only draw for a 2016 Kawasaki Ninja EX300 motorcycle at She Rides Nite on Friday, February 12. The motorcycle is donated by Canadian Kawasaki and its dealership GBourque of Dieppe. This is a first for the Moncton show, so ladies don’t forget to fill in your ballot while you are at the show. In addition to a chance to win a 2016 Kawasaki, women will receive half-price admission after 5:00 p.m. that night.

According to industry statistics, women account for 14 percent of all motorcycle owners and there’s been a 30 percent increase in the number of female bikers over the past decade.

“She Rides Nite is all about encouraging women who ride, or are considering the sport, to gather up their girlfriends and have a fun night out,” said the show’s manager, Neil Fardy.  ”In addition to the many female-friendly motorcycle models available, there’s riding gear and clothing specially developed for women. We’ll have industry experts on hand to provide information and advice specific to the needs of the female rider.”

Also back by popular demand is the Yamaha Riding Academy, which introduces kids to the sport in a safe, supervised environment. Children 6 to 12 years old receive instruction from the experts, get geared up in the latest safety equipment and then take to the track to test their skills. It’s an excellent way to expose “wannabe” riders to the basics and safety of off road riding.

Another crowd pleaser at Moncton is Trials at the Show, starring the Bélanger family from Quebec. Trials is a non-speed event, done on specialized bikes, where riders demonstration their skills and agility by navigating an obstacle course without ever touching their feet to the ground.

Clinton Smout will also return to this year’s show to give “how to” sessions on riding over obstacles and gravel roads, picking up a fallen motorcycle and other slow speed riding techniques.

For more information on the 2016 show hours, ticket prices, features, and a list of exhibitors, visit the Moncton show website at https://www.monctonmotorcycleshow.ca/ where advance tickets can be purchased.

THIS ONE’S FOR THE GIRLS

As we start to turn our thoughts to warm weather and clear roads there is no better time to pick out your dream ride for the 2016 season than at the Motorcycle & ATV Show – Edmonton. This is Edmonton’s only showcase for all the new makes and models from all the major manufacturers.  Talk to the experts, and hop on and compare models.  If a new bike isn’t what you are after there is an enormous selection of aftermarket accessories, gear, apparel, destination travel locations, clubs and associations and charity rides to check out.

The Show kicks off on Friday with the annual SHE Rides Night when women receive half price admission after 5:00 pm.  This special evening is all about encouraging females that are into riding or are thinking about riding to grab a few girls friends and make a night of it.  Check out all the female friendly models available.  New at the Motorcycle & ATV Show – Edmonton is the Torch Motorcycles Revv-olution.  Their exhibit will encompass various aspects of riding including gear and apparel that is specifically designed for the female rider.  There will be a number of ladies on site with their handbuilts willing and eager to chat with other interested riders.  The research, data collection and development of technology that Torch Motorcycles does will be of interest to all riders.

Once again Canadian Kawasaki has generously provided a 2016 Kawasaki Ninja 300 to be given away to one lucky lady.  The lightweight Kawasaki Ninja is inspired supersport line and provides a thrilling and agile ride, powered by a compact but potent engine.  It boasts nimble handling and balanced suspension and a silky-smooth ride, irresistible to experienced track riders as well as novice road riders looking to sharpen their skills.  Enter to qualify for your chance to win.

The NORAL and Canadian Vintage Motorcycle Group’s exhibit will feature a number of bikes dating back to the 1920’s.  These bikes have been maintained by their owners for well over 80 years.  This unique display highlights the pride these owners have for their prized possessions.  It is more than just a hobby, it is a passion.

If you want your kids to get in on the action, the Yamaha Riding Academy is just the ticket. Sign up for a session and expose your “wannabe” rider to the basics and safety of off road riding.  Children 6-12 years old will have the opportunity to receive instruction from the experts from Yamaha, get geared up in the latest safety equipment and then take to the track to test their skills and practice.  This is an excellent opportunity to introduce kids to the sport in a safe, supervised, non-threatening environment

Motor Madness and Mayhem comes to the Hall D throughout the weekend, this MX Freestyle Show will feature two side-by-side ramps which is sure to make for some fierce stunt competition among the members of the team.  This year’s freestyle team includes Keith Sayers, Heath Frisby, Nick Dunne and Albertan Billy Kohut flying through the air, while fellow Canadian Craig Latimer takes to the arena floor to perform burnouts, wheelies and other street style stunts.

Ipsos Poll Findings Show Over Three-Quarters Believe That Gov’t And Power Sport Organizations Should Work Together To Enhance Mutually Beneficial Goals

TORONTO, Sept. 21, 2015 /CNW/ – According to an Ipsos Public Affairs poll 73% of Canadians believe that recreational power sports perform well in contributing to quality of life and leisure. Just over half of Canadians expressed favourable opinions toward ATVing, snowmobiling, off-road motorcycling and 4×4 off-roading with the highest levels of support in Quebec.

These are the findings of an Ipsos poll of 2,006 Canadians conducted in August of this year (https://ipsos-na.com/news-polls/pressrelease.aspx?id=6994). The results were revealed by Ipsos Global CEO, Darrell Bricker at the kick-off to the first ever national power sports industry conference.

Bob Ramsay, President of the COHV was pleased to learn that “Almost one-third of Canadians are interested in participating or watching power sports and that one-quarter would want to join a power sports club.” Ramsay was also interested in poll results that concluded, “The greatest opportunity for expansion appears to be in 4X4, off-road motorcycling and side-by-side ROVs.”

“With so many Canadians expressing favourable impressions of power sports and a willingness to give them a try our industry has a promising future,” said Ed Klim, President of the International Snowmobile Manufacturers Association. “It’s clear that manufacturers, retailers and rider organizations have a real opportunity to grow their customer base and membership levels.”

In his presentation, Bricker noted that forty percent of Canadians have participated in at least one power sport activity. Other notable takeaways from the survey results were:

  • Over three-quarters support the use of sport vehicle registration fees to be used to enhance trails for power sports.
  • Over three-quarters believe that Gov’t and power sport organizations should work together to enhance mutually beneficial goals.
  • 40% are interested in participating in the future, including 12% who have never tried
  • Greatest barriers to participating more: affordability and having friends to go with

The Canadian Off-Highway Vehicle Distributors Council (COHV) and its member manufacturers in partnership with the International Snowmobile Manufacturers Association (ISMA) are holding this exciting national two day conference where respected leaders from industry, government, media and stakeholders from around the world are gathering together to exchange ideas, discuss best practices, and forge stronger partnerships to help drive the future of Canada’s power sports industry.
