THE MONTREAL MOTORCYCLE SHOW: A NEW RIDE FOR EVERYONE THIS YEAR! The new 2016 model line-up is all about variety and choice

Montreal, January 25, 2016 – In addition to the always impressive number of new models unveiled at the show each and every year, the standout feature of the 2016 Montreal Motorcycle Show will be the unparalleled variety and selection of motorcycles on display.  The Show’s 150 exhibitors, including the industry’s 20 largest manufacturers, will all be coming together to showcase an unrivaled collection of new models and innovations for 2016.  From short distance urban machines and new category introductions to cutting-edge technology and retro inspired designs, this year’s line-up offers unprecedented range and choice, for every style and level of rider.

The following are just a few of the new model highlights that await the 33,000 expected visitors who will be taking over the Palais des congrès from February 26 to 28, 2016.

BMW: ADVENTURE CALLS!

BMW Motorrad continues to bolster its presence in the adventure sport touring segment with its2016 S1000XR. Based on the hugely successful S platform, the XR offers great performance, agility and an upright riding position for comfortable and sporty adventure riding. Also new for 2016 are refreshed versions of the F700GS and F800GS models. Among their new features are a unique updated paint finish and the option of a lowered suspension kit. BMW also continues to set the pace in urban mobility with key updates to its popular C650GT. Central to the changes are a fully redesigned CVT and clutch, which results in more pulling capability, particularly when the light turns green or when accelerating from low speeds.

CAN-AM BRP SPYDER: BRING ON THE CRUISERS

BRP is expanding its presence in the cruiser segment, adding the F3-T and F3 Limited models to its existing F3, F3-S and F3 Special Series vehicles. These new models are loaded with comfort and convenience – features that offer greater freedom, flexibility, and cargo space.  All Spyder F3 models are equipped with BRP’s exclusive UFit system, allowing riders to adjust their ride position and find a truly customized fit, feel and riding experience.

DUCATI: TAKING THE MARKET BY STORM

More than 10 new Ducati models will be on display at this year’s Show.  Starting with the all-newXDiavel, Ducati makes its entrance into the cruiser world and does so in its very own way.  Relaxed, low-speed riding, combined with the excitement and adrenaline of sports riding, perfectly sums up the “low speed excitement” of the XDiavel.  Also new for 2016, is the Multistrada 1200 Enduro.  Built to stand up to the stresses and strains of off-road riding, it has the ability to travel across continents, allowing riders the freedom to explore the globe on two wheels.  Also featured among Ducati’s new models are the Scrambler Sixty2, inspired by the youth culture of skateboarding, surfing and pop music, the Scrambler Flat Track Pro, a tribute to America dirt track racing, and the Scrambler Italian Independent, a limited edition model that takes a turn in a more fashionable and glamourous direction. Rounding out the company’s 2016 line-up are theHypermotard 939, Hyperstrada 939, Monster 1200, Multistrada 1200 Pikes Peak, and 959 Panigale.

HARLEY-DAVIDSON: THE MOST POWERFUL CRUISER LINE-UP

For 2016, Harley-Davidson is introducing one of its broadest lineups in a single model year. There isn’t a cruiser that hasn’t been improved in some way through style, power or accessibility. For 2016, the Iron 883 gets an all new suspension, a new rolled leather seat and jaw-dropping new pipes and wheels. No need to shine this machine, just get on and tear up the nearest street. In addition to a better seat and suspension, the Forty-Eight offers new lightweight mag wheels and awesome brakes. On top of that, its tank now sports ’70s inspired graphics. After a two-year absence, the Road Glide Ultra is back for 2016. Enhanced style, better aerodynamics, and improved long-distance ergonomics mean riders can now pile up the miles in high style. The Road Glide Ultra delivers a mind-blowingly comfortable ride built around an aggressive look. Finally, cruisers Fat Boy S and Softail Slim S are now equipped with a Screamin’ Eagle Twin Cam 110B engine, offering performance that was once the exclusive domain of Custom Vehicle Operationsmodels.

HONDA: UNSTOPPABLE

Honda’s new CRFL1000L Africa Twin is the perfect travel companion. Thoroughly equipped for true adventure, with potent engine and dynamic chassis, this bike is ready to cover continents on or off-road. The VFR1200X also joins the 2016 line-up of adventure and touring motorcycles. Launched in Europe in 2012, it’s a machine that gives its rider a rare sense of challenge and the facility to explore. But the real difference lies in the addictive power and sound produced by its soulful V4 engine, something unique in its class. Rounding out the 2016 lineup of adventure bikes are the NC750X and CB500X, which, regardless of distance, terrain or weather, are equipped to get you to your destination and back effortlessly.

HUSQVARNA: POWER, STYLE, TECHNOLOGY

For 2016, Husqvarna is rewriting history with its new generation of motocross bikes. The FC 250,350 and 450 models have been fully redesigned from the frame up. Think engine enhancements designed to increase overall power, updated suspension, improved brake discs, and a new frame and subframe. Exclusive to the Montreal Show, the manufacturer will present its 701 Enduro. This machine, built from the ground up to lead in terms of power, weight, technology and performance, produces 67 hp and combines state-of-the-art equipment with unique bodywork.  With its crisp throttle response the 701 Enduro allows riders of all levels to confidently tackle both their next offroad adventure, as well as the daily commute.

KAWASAKI: LIVING THE DREAM!

The versatile Z1000 has been a hit for Kawasaki, and the streetfighter is now getting a sibling: the new 2016 Z800 ABS. This mid-level streetfighter has the attitude and aggressive style of its bigger brother but is fitted with a smaller four-cylinder engine displacing 806cc. Streetfighter fans will love the exposed engine with black covers, the attractive bends in the exhaust and the uncluttered rear. For its part, the new ZX-10R is a bike supersport fans have definitely been waiting for. And while it might look a lot like the previous version, Kawasaki has left barely a bolt untouched on the new 2016 model. Changes have been made to the engine, chassis, suspension, electronics and brakes. Designed to enable a greater number of riders to experience the thrill of riding a superbike, the new Ninja ZX-10R is the closest thing to a highly-advanced factory superbike from Kawasaki.

TRIUMPH: MODERN CLASSICS REBORN

This year, Triumph is launching a record number of new models. The all-new Bonneville Familyfeatures 5 new bikes including the T120 and T120 Black, Thruxton and Thruxton R, along with the exciting new 900cc Street Twin. Redeveloped from the ground up with three new Bonneville engines and all-new chassis and suspensions, these bikes provide the optimal modern classic riding experience. Also new for 2016 are the Speed Triple S and Speed Triple R. Centered around a new 1050cc triple engine, these bikes take performance, agility, power, handling and capability to a completely new level. Finally, the new Tiger Explorer will also be on display. Packed full of advanced rider-focused technology, this bike lets you get the most out of your ride, whether on road, trail or byway.
